Halloween is getting closer and I’m playing about with ideas for our Halloween ‘Spooktacular’ that we are hosting on the 31 October. I knew that this ‘make’ would be a winner for Boo as it is all about his favourite creature…..SPIDERS!
What You’ll Need
- 2 x A3 Black Card or Sugar Paper
- Wiggly Eyes (preferably self-adhesive ones to avoid using glue) – as many as you want your creepy critter to have
- Double-sided sticky tape
I prepped the card so that we could get straight on with our creation.
Cut one of the sheets of card in half (length ways) so that you have two long pieces that can be joined together with double-sided tape and then sized on your little ones head to eventually make a crown-like hat – don’t make the final join yet as you need to be able to lay the card flat on the table for your child to decorate.
Cut the second piece of card into long strips – about an inch wide.
After I had sized the crown on Boo’s head I laid it on the table and asked him how many eyes the spider should have – and then gave him a pile of wiggly eyes!
When Boo had finishing covering the card with eyes I joined the two ends together and made a big crown shape.
Next we started on our ‘legs’. We folded each long strip of card into a big concertina shape – I would fold the strip over and Boo would press down each edge so that we got a nice clean fold. When we had folded up the whole strip of card we let it spring back out again.
‘Boing! Boing! Mummy!’
We put some double-sided tape at one end before securing it to the inside rim of the crown. We kept on repeating this until we had filled the top of our crown with ‘legs’.
Ta Dah! Spider Boy!!
