At Creation Station we strive to build sustainability into everything we do

Read about our developments and discover ways to help our planet.

A cleaner, healthier future begins with small decisions we make every day. That’s why the whole team at The Creation Station are committed to bring creativity into learning, leisure and life, through our creative classes, parties and events in positive sustainable ways.

We constantly look for ways to be even more responsible and to empower others to do the same.

Sustainability fuels our mission to inspire imaginations and nurture creativity. It helps us focus our methods, innovation and growth so we can make a difference in our daily business. This means we constantly challenge ourselves to rethink, reduce and recycle.

Our progress

Since we were established back in 2002, recycling has been a key part of our business. Our first pre-school classes included our own song ‘This is the way we tidy up and recycle’. It’s been sung by 100,000’s of children and is still sang every week in our Little Explorer classes.

Printing

Our ‘Creation Station Franchise Information’ books and Creative Journey Books are printed on recycled paper.

We have converted our information books into pdf versions where possible.

Office processes include reduce, reuse and recycling processes.

Training manuals and how to guides are now digital.

Packaging

We reuse cardboard boxes and give damaged boxes to a neighbouring business to recycle for packaging materials.

We use fabric off cuts from a futon factory to package breakable items. Where possible, our Creation Station leaders then use these fabric items in workshops as a collage material.

Craft materials and suppliers

We phased out plastic glitter in all of our classes, parties and events at the end of 2019. This has been replaced with biodegradable cosmetic and craft glitter.

Reducing the use of wet wipes with high plastic content to fully biodegradable bamboo based wipes. Instructing franchisees to get access to clean water and drying facilities as an overall preferred option.

Where possible the paper and card we use is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). That means it comes from sustainable sources.

Our children’s party bags are made from recycled paper. Children decorate their own bags and take their own creations home in their bag.

Phasing out plastic pots for our superb slime events, centrally organised events use 100% fully compostable pots made from plant extracts.

We have teamed up with Ellies recycling fund to collect and recycle felt pens to help raise funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support Across Yorkshire

We continue to question all our suppliers about their sustainability plans for products and packaging.

We will continue to review all our products, packaging and processes, both at a head office level and through our team of Creation Station Franchise owners.

We’ve made big progress, but we know there lots to do. We welcome your ideas, input and inspiration to help us all continue to make a difference
