Hello from Joanna

Hello, I'm Joanna and I run the Creation Station franchise for Lancaster and Kendal. I'm a parent of two children so I know first-hand what it's like to find fun classes and activities that spark their natural curiosity and develop their growing minds. Plus, I know the value of meeting other like-minded parents and spending good, quality time with grown ups. That's why I am delighted to be able to help you with this through a whole range of our award-winning craft classes such as our lovely newborn keepsake classes, our preschool baby and toddler classes, arty birthday party entertainment, family fun classes and lots of other events. We also have some fantastic adult craft classes to give you a bit of time away from the kids. About Joanna


Why I decided to run my own Creation Station. 
I have been teaching for 15 years and there have been a lot of changes, both personally and in the profession, not the least of which is that I become a mum to Luke and Bess. After a lot of soul searching, I decided that I was no longer happy teaching full time, and wanted something that was both more fulfilling and more flexible while still working with children.  I love crafting and making myself so when The Creation Station kept popping up on my Facebook feed it immediately caught my eye. After applying for an information pack and attending a Discovery Morning, I decided that this was for me. It combines all the things I love: arts and crafts, creating and making, working with children, the opportunity to meet other adults while letting me work around my children, being able to attend school plays and assemblies and do the school run. And not only are they things I love, they are things that I truly believe are important: giving children the opportunity to explore and discover, use their imaginations and develop their creativity, and also giving parents the opportunity to meet and get to know other parents. 

What I did before I ran my own Creation Station. 
I was a Key Stage Two teacher. 

What I love about running my own Creation Station.  
I love so many things about running my own Creation Station! I love meeting all the amazing creative children and their grown ups, I love that what each child makes is different and unique to them and I love the flexibility that running my own Creation Station gives me. 

Something you probably don’t know about me.
As a student, I lived in Copenhagen for a term. It was an amazing 3 months and I loved every second. 

Things I love doing. 
Spending time with my family, visiting historical places, reading and of course, crafting! 

My favourite joke.  
I really struggle to remember jokes but my daughter keeps telling me this one: What do you get if you cross a sheep with chocolate? A chocolate baa! 

My favourite food.  
Liquorice-the saltier, the better!

No-stress party option!

The Creation station hosted by Joanna…

The Creation station hosted by Joanna is an absolutely wonderful playgroup to take your children to. Stimulating their imagination, creative Sparks are ignited with your little ones as they go on a journey of arty discovery each week following a general theme. 2D pictures, 3D models, printing, stamping, cutting and gluing is all included and every week you get to take something very lovely home with you! The creations are fabulous, quality materials are used and are plentiful. Joanna the host is very welcoming and the children and parents in our group have formed friendships. I am arty, my child wasn't. He now looks forward to creation station as a real highlight of his week! I would recommend this group to anyone looking for something fun to do with their child. You do not need to be creative or arty, joanna does all the planning for you!

First Time at Creation Station

My 2 year old granddaughter absolutely loved this. She was totally absorbed in making her clay model and decorating it. Joanna, the class leader, was so welcoming and friendly and gave all the children lots of attention. We can't wait to go back!

Take my granddaughter and she loves it

Take my granddaughter and she loves it, not too keen in joining in with the song at beginning but once the creativity starts she dives in. She certainly gets her money's worth of googly eyes and glue too ha ha. Jo is a lovely person very friendly and welcoming making the sessions even more special.

We love Creation Station

We love Creation Station! My son loves going, everything from the songs to the activity to the stamp at the end! He absolutely loves our leader Jo whom he calls 'painting lady' and Jo always finds the time to give each child (and parent) attention. She has an amazing memory for names and details which makes it a lovely personal experience. There is nothing better than seeing your child's pride in his abilities and it clearly shines at the sessions with her praise and encouragement! I also took my baby daughter to a 'tiny treasures' session and made some wonderful keepsakes in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go again!

Lovely relaxed session

Lovely relaxed session. Not too much equipment out which is great as Iv found other creative/messy sessions a bit overwhelming for my little one. Lovely!

Joanna was lovely and welcoming and runs a smooth ship. The session was fun and relaxed, allowing parents to chat and babies to take part in the creating some lovely little keepsakes using hand and foot prints. I'd definitely recommend and will return for future creative classes.
