Holidays are coming…

Holidays are coming…

It appears that Coca-Cola's involvement with Santa doesn’t start until the early 1930s.

The BBC states “The colours are widely thought to derive from the original Saint Nicholas, who was the Bishop of Myra in the 4th Century. Red and white were the hues of traditional bishop robes, although some historians argue that he originally dressed in different colours.

He was famous for his kindness to children and generosity to the poor. After he died the legend of Saint Nicholas grew and he is still remembered in some countries on 6 December.”

There are records of Santa wearing various coloured costumes, but red was by far the most popular and became known as the quintessential Father Christmas outfit.

"Father Christmas is an evolutionary creation, influenced by folklore, legend and religion," says Tom Glamon, whose research into Santa will win him the envy of children the world over.”

So there we have it – Father Christmas has evolved over the years and for many is an iconic and well-loved character the world over. He was mainly associated with feasting and drinking rather than the giving of presents. However since mid-1800s Father Christmas has evolved into the much-loved, red-suited gift giver we know today.

We're lucky enough to have the Coca Cola truck coming to our area on 17th December and I can't wait. I don't really drink Coke to be honest, but the truck is so legendary that it's hard not to get a little bit excited. Check out if the Coca Cola truck is visiting your area this Christmas here

What a lovely afternoon

What a lovely afternoon. The children throughly enjoyed themselves. Not only a party but great crafts to take home. And, best of all, especially for a home party. They were so absorbed in their task. All you could her is them humming along to the music!!!

excellent party with Sarah

We had a wonderful party with Sarah from Sunbury Creation Station. She calmly and smoothly ran the party for 15 five year olds and kept them all engaged. The activities were lovely and the kids were thrilled with the lovely treasure boxes and model animals that they got to take home. Sarah made everything very easy for me and was super professsional. Thanks very much!
