Day #54 Practice Practice...

sara le rouxby Sara le Roux,  Owner and Inspirer at The Creation Station Penistone and District

We had such a busy day today with a reindeer parade in Shelley this morning and me working a 1st birthday ‘Arty Party’ in the afternoon -  I just didn’t have the energy to get more paint out this evening.  What I thought Boo might like to do is practice his button -hole skills.

What You’ll Need

  • Felt pieces – different colours
  • Length of ribbon – around 30 cm
  • Needle and thread
  • Button
  • Scissors

Cut a dozen or so squares of felt approximately 10 cm x 10 cm and cut a slit in the middle of each one that is large enough to fit the button through.

Attach the button to one end of the ribbon using the needle and thread, and then tie a nice big knot at the other end.

Picture 005

I handed the stack of felt squares to Boo and then showed him how to ‘button’ a felt square onto the ribbon.

He was absolutely stunned…

The concentration was amazing!

He sat with his squares and threaded them onto the ribbon, one by one until it was all finished – ‘more Mummy?’

All gone Boo!

A fab activity that we will definitely use again and again :)

Day #54 DONE! 46 to go!

I cannot praise the creation station enough. It has been a wonderful experience taking part in the zoom calls and it has been a god send to my sister, who has learning difficulties. I wish I had found you sooner

Lots of fun!

My 9 year old twin girls absolutely love their Creation Station sessions with Alexis. They always want to do the normal after school sessions, and are equally enjoying the zoom after school sessions plus some extra holiday sessions too. Alexis is great with the children, and the crafts are fun and varied.

Wizard Workshop

My 6 year old loved the online Wizard Workshop! You can tell Alix was a teacher as she has the ability to hold all the kids attention. They had great fun with the slime making and other crafts. It was very exciting to receive the box in advance and I think for 2.5 hours it was also great value for money.

Highlight of lockdown half term

We love Alexis' sessions in-person, and somehow she's managed to make the Zoom sessions just as good! My 4 year old was engaged for the whole class and has been asking every day when we can do it again. He is still playing with his Super Hero creations! Alexis packs the kit with loads of great supplies and gave a short list of extras we would need like scissors and sticky tape. Worth every penny!

Amazing “Grandactivities” ?

My children and I had a fantastic morning with Karen who was absolutely brilliant at interacting with all of us, helping us to join in and complete our collage craftwork ? It was especially lovely as this was a “grand activities” session so my Mum who does not live local to us was also able to join the class and we could share the experience with her! It was so special and “something different” to the usual zoom chats that we are used to! Thank you so much, highly recommend!
