Joscelin Hennigan invested her sixteen years of expertise in teaching Art into her dream of being her own boss, running her own award-winning Creation Station franchise. She now supports children and adults learning and development through fun creative art and crafts classes, parties and events in Bolton, Halliwell, Markland Hill, Heaton, Barrow Bridge and surrounding areas in Greater Manchester.
Joscelin says "I'm a parent of two boys so I know first-hand what it's like to find fun classes and activities that spark their natural curiosity and develop their growing minds."

Why did you want to run your own business?
"I have spent sixteen years being a teacher and five of them being Head of Faculty. I felt that my job had become less and less child orientated and more about passing exams and reaching the next level.
I needed to be inspired again so that I could continue to inspire children…I needed to stretch myself again, build up my confidence in engaging with a variety of people and learn new skills in fun, creative classes & events."
Joscelin runs regular classes in Saint Peter's Parish Centre for her Little Explorers (that's ages 15 months - 5 years) and is great for getting your little ones creative and crafty and also adult crafter-noons called, Creative Crafters in The Coffee Shop in Heaton for all those craft lovers that are 18+.

What attracted you to The Creation Station?
"The flexibility around my children – I had never been to a celebration assembly or taken my children to school. The Creation Station is a tried and tested business model – it has a good support network and lots of training. Not as big a step as going it alone!"
Describe your highlights so far
"Having fully booked Family Fun sessions over the holidays! Speaking to lovely business people in my area who really want me to succeed and who are supporting and encouraging me. Watching the children engage with the sessions and starting my first Care and Creativity workshop – I think I smiled from start to finish!"
How do you feel about the future?
You need to be resilient as it’s not easy running your own business, but I know that if I set goals I have more of a chance to achieve them.
I plan to begin running after-school "Create Clubs" and then employ someone to run some of my sessions in schools and nurseries.
Schools and nurseries in Bolton can apply for my introductory offer - for a short time only, receive a half-price Play-Doh school workshop. This is available for the first five schools and nurseries who email me to apply.
