The UK’s leading children’s activity franchised business: The Creation Station launches new interactive Baby Discovery classes across the UK
The Creation Station has developed a unique art and craft creative programme of classes for baby’s 3 month to 1 year of age, to support new parents with creative play activities to engage and share with their baby. This new service is now included in The Creation Station franchised business opportunity as part of the drive to inspire the children’s imaginations across the U.K. The new programme provides a shared ‘Journey of Discovery’ for baby to discover the world around them and for the parents / carers to discover more about their baby. Activities include an exciting range of safe, tried and tested art and craft activities to engage the baby’s sense’s to help them experience and understand first concepts. These are provided in a safe and nurturing environment, with the support of their parent/carer, in line with The Early Years Foundation Stage. There is also the added benefit of a variety of unique toys and treasured artworks to create with their baby, to support shared play and increased interaction.
“We have responded to the huge demand for us to develop an interactive creative play programme for baby’s and their parents / carer to share together. The demand has come from parents who attend our ‘Little Explorers’ classes for 1- 5 year olds, from childcare settings, with whom we work very closely and also from our team of franchise owners, who are as passionate about creativity as I am!” states Sarah Cressall, mum to three and Founder and Managing Director of The Creation Station “I know parenting is hard work and I wanted to give a shared creative experience, that was educational, supportive, social and fun for all those who are involved. The programme draws upon The Creation Station philosophy of using art and crafts to create a child’s own journey of discovery and exploration. All the classes engage the senses and support each child’s natural curiosity to discover, explore and develop with a range of age and stage appropriate materials and tools. ‘Baby Discovery’ has been developed by The Creation Station team, during the past two years and has been piloted in Leeds children’s centre and in Shakees Soft play centre in Somerset.
“We received lots of enquiries for creative activities for babies but there wasn’t anything out there to provide educational creative play for this age group. I was therefore delighted to part of the pilot scheme for Baby Discovery. The programme is very unique because it actively helps support new mums and carers with their baby’s development and education, particularly with tactile experiences. It’s over a year now since the programme ran and parents still talk about it now. I am very excited that Baby Discovery is now a national resource and that we can continue to run the programme for parents and carers in our community. Another benefit for us, was that the centre staff also had time to observe and record and we now have some great large blown up images, with excellent evidence filed for our Ofsted reports” Lynn Smith, Children Centre Manager Yeadon & Rawdon Children Centre.
The classes involve parents / carers and their baby’s in a range of educational and creative activities including printing their baby’s footprint on a free ‘Baby Discovery’ bag. The bag is filled during the subsequent weeks with the some of the unique toys and artworks created together. Other activities include discovering ‘Scrunchy and Bumpy’ and making scrunchy snakes, discovering ‘Slippery and Slimy’ and creating footprints in clay. The classes involve activities and products that are safety tested and that encourage parents to make new friends and to share their own baby experiences.
