Redundancy inspired mum to be her own boss
New mum Carly Miller was made redundant when she was on maternity leave. Carly turned this difficult situation around by becoming her own boss and investing her redundancy money in a family friendly franchise. Now bookings are flying in for her Creation Station sessions and arty parties.
Carly explained: “At first I was unsure what to do about going back to work but then I looked at the possibility of buying a franchise. I realised it would be a brilliant way of earning money plus I could have the freedom to work in a way that suits me and still have time to spend with my daughter.
“I did some research and really liked the look of the Creation Station. I knew there wasn’t anything like it in my area because I had tried to find art and craft activities for my daughter. The website was very professional and easy to navigate and the variety of classes, parties and events offered lots of scope for me to run my own successful business.
“Since being awarded my Creation Station franchise I have been delighted with the level of support and training from Head Office. It has made me feel really confident about running my sessions and has given me loads of marketing ideas and suggestions for getting started. It was also really nice to meet the other new franchisees during training. We all keep in touch and encourage each other.
“I am still in the process of setting everything up for the five sessions I plan to run each week but already the bookings are flying in. I’ve also arranged to run art and craft activities at some local events to get the Creation Station noticed. I want everyone in the Bracknell area to know that I am providing the UK’s market leading art and craft activity programme for children. I’m really excited about the future and can’t wait to see my new business thrive.”
