Xmas Card Ideas
Original Christmas Cards
Home made Christmas cards are a great opportunity for indoor fun. Children love having a go and experimenting so get creative with some of the different ideas below.
Remember to keep it simple, encourage your child's own ideas and maybe have to a go yourself!
Printed Cards:
(With adult help and supervision)
You will need: white card, cookie/play dough cutters, tray for paint (try a used ready meal tray) newspaper for the table,
1.Cut a potato in half. Push a cookie / play dough cutter right into the white part of the potato.
2.Cut away the potato that is outside of the cutter.
3.Carefully remove the cutter to reveal a very neat shape. Dip the potato into the paint and practise pushing the potato down onto the paper to print the shape. Too much paint will create a big splodge. Ask your child what is happening and why?
4.Use a whole range of shape cutters to create cards for all occasions.
5.Try printing with leaves or hands. Decorate the cards with fingerprint ‘dots' as baubles, or glue on buttons and sequins. Finish with a ribbon that picks out a colour of the painting.
6.Send to someone special- and don't forget to write the artists name on the back.
